Having chosen which physical principles to treat as inviolable, the essay in Chapter 6 works through some consequences for various aspects of our physical understanding, including:

  • Why is the Universe expanding?
  • What actually are mass and energy?
  • What is the overall geometry of the Universe?
  • What are dark matter and dark energy?
  • What is time?
  • What is going on inside black holes?
  • Why is there more matter than antimatter?
  • Is quantum mechanics really that weird?
  • What is the ultimate fate of the Universe?
  • Is this Universe all there is?

Among other observations, it is possible that findings by the James Webb Space Telescope and the upgraded Large Hadron Collider might provide some evidence for or against the theory.
